Overview of Idea

Happy Post is a global movement which believes that happiness is a universal value that inspires social change. We’ve been invited by the Colombian government to visit three villages affected by the ongoing armed conflict. There, we’ll spread happiness and share their do-good stories with the world.

The Specifics: What will the $3,000 fund?

The Colombian government has invited Happy Post to visit three villages affected by decades of armed conflict. With this grant, we can meet people directly impacted by the conflict, spread happiness in their communities, showcase their stories, and ultimately inspire lasting change.

We have three goals. First, we’ll collect and deliver messages of support from the global Happy Post community to soldiers and civilians in conflict areas. Second, we’ll ask them to share their stories and perspectives of happiness. Finally, we’ll create a short documentary to share this experience.

This project can be funded with this $3,000 grant, which will be used for flights, video equipment, production costs, and happiness workshops in each village.

¡que vaina! that's great for you, but more than a bit worrisome in terms of which villages you will see and how internal displacement happens within colombia. what's sad is that there are colombian grassroots organizations doing video to create but who have a more intimate understanding of the government and DAS. so have fun creating happiness but keep your eyes open and pay attention to the privilege of coming from the U.S.

Hi Kebo! we haven't received an official invitation yet. However, we have already started conversations with them to see if we can bring this project to reality. Also thanks for your advice. I truly believe in Colombia and this project has been designed to share good, to showcase perspectives of happiness from people who lives in conflict areas, and to show once again that happiness is a universal language. This project is not focused on the conflict itself. As you said, there are many organizations that are profoundly studying the conflict, we don't want to claim expertise on that particular topic. Thanks!
