Overview of Idea

Our project, The Cathartist, is a web forum where survivors of sexual trauma can voice their stories, thoughts, feelings, solutions and seek healing through expressive arts. We hope to provide a safe space where all women and men can voice their experiences, find resources, and work towards healing.

The Specifics: What will the $3,000 fund?

We hope to foster a productive dialogue that can address ways to combat stigmas and societal attitudes that we believe are harmful both to survivors of sexual violence and abuse, and to society as a whole. 1) $1,000 to maintain our website and towards setting up the proper resources for victims of abuse to access to help prevent sexual violence 2) $1,000 will be distributed amongst our team of outreach workers that will be going into their communities to help set-up and engage in activities and workshops geared toward raising awareness against sexual violence 3) $1,000 will go towards publicity and promoting the awareness of our site/program to share the stories and expressive arts of all of all of our victims, survivors and guest speakers.
