Through video interviews, Neighborhood Stories is an effort to celebrate the diverse places that give Dallas its character and texture, and create a platform for dialogue about its history and future. The stories we share about where we live--memories, concerns, dreams--show why place matters.
Using teams of volunteers with hand-held cameras, bcWORKSHOP (a nonprofit community design center) has collected more than 200 stories from people representing over 40 Dallas neighborhoods in the last four months. The $3,000 grant will supplement bcWORKSHOP’s ongoing effort by funding:
1- Upgrades to our sound equipment, significantly improving the audio quality of our interviews.
2- The design and build of a modular interview booth. This mobile booth will permit us to bring the project to Dallas’s 300+ neighborhoods and create a visual identity for the project.
3- The design of an online database. This publicly accessible, continually evolving collection of stories will enable users to explore and learn about our city’s neighborhoods.
