To spark meaningful communication between Iraqi refugees and American volunteers, this book collects recipes and stories about Iraqi culture and hospitality. These stories teach the age-old traditions of Iraqi hospitality and celebrate the incredible individuals who make up the refugee community

The Specifics: What will the $3,000 fund?

This book will be published through FirstSteps Press, a non-profit publishing house that creates well-researched and well-designed materials for newly arriving refugees. $3000 would help cover the remaining Arabic translation costs as well as printing costs. Copies of the book will be sold as close to cost as possible and distributed to American volunteers who are paired with newly arriving Iraqi refugees. This will ensure refugees are well-supported and truly welcomed from the moment they arrive in the United States and that volunteers are equipped to reach out and welcome refugees as their new neighbors.
