Overview of Idea

Big Class has made three books that feature stories written by kids and illustrated by adults and are distributed throughout Greater New Orleans. We create a context in which kids can find their voice as storytellers, and their audience. We want to make more.

The Specifics: What will the $3,000 fund?

We are not kidding around when we say we make books- these are not pieces of paper stapled together, but beautifully designed, printed, and bound. This allows for the unique experience a student has when they have been a part of a real book. Our resources for collaboration keep expanding, so funding the physical objects that come out of these collaborations is a must. Storytelling in our context can also expand to photography, film, and other material-heavy and costly mediums. Finally, we are hoping to make Big Class a regular part of school curriculums throughout the Big Easy. Your vote of confidence will enhance their confidence in us and our ability to work with them. $3000 would jump start Big Class No. 4, 5, and 6.
